Last weekend I tried to make a video about Christmas Pudding with my friend Will. The problem is I am a disaster at recording introductions as you can see in the video below. The ridiculous thing is that we gave up trying to make the film because I couldn’t get the introduction right, so this is all I ended up with!
The point of the video was to show the Americans who visit this blog a traditional Christmas Pudding that we eat here in England. I don’t think you can easily find it in the States (certainly I never have) and when I took a pudding there last year for CHristmas it was hated by everyone.
It’s another one of those subtle differences that separates us Brits from you Americans. Like how we don’t like Root Beer or Pumpkin Pie, and how you guys don’t like Black Pudding or Salad Cream. For the record, I hate Black Pudding too!

i did enjoy the intro attempts, very funny. i can’t recall if i’ve ever had christmas pudding, but this almost made me want to try it. do people usually buy it or make it from scratch?

I looked up Christmas pudding on Wikipedia and there were a few problems. First one was the photos. It looks nasty. Second one was that it has suet in it, which I also looked up on Wikipedia and found out that it’s some kinda meat. Pudding has no meat in it. Pudding is made from chocolate, has the words Jello Brand written on the box and is endorsed by Bill Cosby. To make it Christmas pudding.. stick a candy cane in the miiddle of it. That stuff you’re trying to sell.. That’s not pudding.
Funny intro though. You should host a cooking show.

I laughed out loud this entire video. The ‘Ferris Bueller’ song just added to the hilarity. XD So… erm… what the hell is IN this Christmas pudding? =D

Simon brought one to my family two years in a row. I think we still have a little one some where with a fruit cake.

ROFLMAO
Oh my! What a crack up! :) Thanks for making me laugh on a Monday Morning with only 45 minutes before I need to be at work Simon :)
Oh and as an Aussie – I love our trad chrissy pud here too – the ridgy-didge stuff with a tonne of fruit and brandy and boiled in cloth etc. We got rid of the coin years ago though – too many broken teeth I believe! ;)
My hubby (a pastrycook) makes traditional fruit mince pies for christmas – you’d best put Australia on your travel list to come try them out some time :)

Black pudding is foul if you ask me. The very idea of it makes me feel off color. And as for me actually cooking one of these, that may have itself been a funny video and the pudding would have been a disaster for sure.

Thank god you were only trying to video a shop bought one. I dread to
think what would have happened if you’d tried baking one ;-)

My favorite part of Christmas Pudding is the BRANDY BUTTER!!! In fact… hold the pudding, just give me the brandy butter and a spoon.
I prefer the little mince pies to the pudding. Of course… slather either one with brandy butter and I’m game.
Your video is a riot. You get the Oscar for editing.

I think a lot of brandy was involved in that shooting. Very humorous at your expense!
